dc.description.abstract A waiter brings one man some grog and asks another man if he wants anything. The latter tells him no as he is a bit frightened of it. The waiter states, "Oh come on, have some laudanum grog!" Laudanum is an opium extract. Similar to the series “Les bons bourgeois” the Croquis Parisiens are dealing with numerous small misfortunes in the life of the Parisians. They were especially impressed by the possibilities opened by the railroad. Travels to the surroundings and the French province were both exciting and startling experiences.
