dc.description.abstract Presented here is a digital version of a recording of portions of Lenny Bruce performances. Most of the file is a continuation of the set that begins on file LB_46a, and is also on file LB_58 (however, the audio on that file is not good). It is likely that the venue is Club Renaissance in Los Angeles and the year is 1962. The bit George Shearing continues. Bruce talks of his fantasy of being with a deaf and dumb chick. He mentions the comic Bill Dana and the San Francisco club the hungry i. He calls Gene Norman, owner of The Crescendo in Los Angeles, insane. He does the bit Chicks Are Boss. He wonders what the pope does with his old clothes. He pretends to be sentimental about Jewish holidays. He wonders why Jack Paar doesn't have old people who sing in Yiddish on his show. He moves something around on stage, asking Benny if it will break (Ben I. Shapiro was a Los Angeles club owner who ran Club Renaissance and Cosmo Alley). Something is revealed: he jokes that it's a coffin and calls out Bridey? (a reference to Bridey Murphy). He's told it's a harpsichord and that a woman performs on it. He says he'll come tomorrow to hear her play, and does a sideshow barker bit. The set ends. A series of short clips follows, date and venue unknown. The first is a variation on Chicks Are Boss. The next section is a montage of very short clips of bits involving drug use; it is a continuation of the compilation that's on file LB_30. The last clip is the beginning of the bit 1100 Winos.
