Presented here is a digital version of a recording of portions of two Lenny Bruce performances at the Gate of Horn club in Chicago on December 15, 1962. The beginning of this file is probably the end of the set that is on file LB_41b. Therefore, it is probably not the first set of the night; it may be the second. Bruce starts to do Christ & Moses, then veers into I Picked on the Wrong God. He then talks about Lyndon Johnson's southern accent and how liberals are bigoted against it. He says that next show he'll talk about gypsies and Filipinos. The set ends. A new set begins. Bruce blames the Maryland Hotel cleaning service for the fact that he's wearing a raincoat. He says, I'm really paranoid about getting busted so much (he had been arrested for his Gate of Horn show during the early hours of December 5). He looks backstage and calls out, Miss Garland. Club owner Alan Ribback comes up to fix the microphone for him; he says, Jewish people aren't mechanical. He uses the mic as a goyim spotter. He says he's no longer dirty, I'm annoying. He does the bits Jewish vs. Goyishe and (Chicago columnist) Paul Molloy & Christianity. He shows a picture of a nude or scantily clad woman in a magazine and says she's not indecent. He does Custody/Get Even, Stag Film vs. King of Kings, History of Obscenity, Transvestites Posing as Policemen, Never Cop to It, Lie Detector, Would You Sell Out Your Country (Francis Gary Powers), Italians Were the Enemy and Gypsies, He imagines Socialist candidate Norman Thomas winning the presidency, to Thomas' own surprise. He says the Irish are persecuted. He does Are There Any Niggers Here Tonight?, The Clap, Las Vegas Tits & Ass, Lie Detector and Thank You Masked Man. He claims that most men have had homosexual experiences and does Dykes and Flashers. The recording ends abruptly. This set continues on file LB_46a.
