dc.description.abstract Initially Louis-Philippe entertained a pacifistic policy, while Russia, as well as a greater part of the French public opinion, supported a more aggressive attitude. This print shows the Citizen King being kicked by foreign affairs as he looks through his binoculars at workmen constructing the new outer fortifications of Paris. The soldier is a Russian Cossack.
