Abstract:
Due to the lengthy time of exposure in early Daguerreotype, it was most important for the "victim" not to move, which made portrait photography extremely difficult. Nevertheless it was necessary to immobilize the heads of the clients with wooden pegs by seating them in a special "photographic chair".
