dc.description 1st state.
dc.description.abstract The image shows Daumier's hope: the National Assembly should return from Versailles to Paris as soon as possible (this move took only place as late as 1879). Here we see some deputies looking (longingly) towards distant Paris but the moment does not seem to be right yet. The wind of "public opinion" however is already blowing in that direction.
