dc.description.abstract Presented here is a digital reproduction of the second part (of two) of a recorded performance by Lenny Bruce at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Also known as The Midnight Concert, the show took place in the early hours of February 4, 1961. This file continues from LB_50. Bruce talks about undetected perverts, generational differences in sexual practice, and does his bit Chick Singer With a Gimmick. He remarks on the feeling he gets from the flag and compares Communism to the monopolistic phone company, but points out that the obstruction of integration is nothing to be proud of. He discusses the way violence in Psycho is accepted but not sex in movies, and how this attitude of silencing talk about sex can end in tragedy. He does the bits Las Vegas Tits& Ass, The Clap, Gypsies, and Christ & Moses (during this he brings up Sal Mineo having read from the bible to promote Exodus on the Ed Sullivan Show on January 8, 1961). He praises the song Spanish Harlem and talks about Puerto Ricans. He talks about food that used to be good for you but is now bad for you, pill addicts, and homosexuals on trial in Miami. He comments on contemporaries Mort Sahl and Bob Newhart and does his bit Shelley Berman & Chicago Shtarkers. He talks about being anesthetized for hip surgery and ends with a joke about plane passengers.
