dc.description Attic Greek, c. 550 – 530 B.C.E.
dc.description Red-ground, black-figure lekythos turned from a deep red clay. The black-painted lip is conical and tapers to the neck. A small handle is attached at the neck and its black paint is flaking off slightly. A ring of brush strokes in a simple sunburst pattern is broken by the bottom of the handle and a half-ring above it encircles the shoulder. Below two double lines and dotted patterns, the body depicts two horsemen, one on either side of two figures seemingly seated upon a dining couch, vines radiating out from them. The base, painted a solid black, tapers down to the foot, of which the top and a ring at the very bottom are black as well.
