dc.description.abstract A man who is lying in bed is awoken by another man. This print appeared once on October 18, 1835 in the Charivari, and again on October 22, but the latter without the face of the King on the clock. The censor had insisted on this change. Those prints with the face of Louis-Philippe are rather difficult to find.

dc.title.alternative The early morning caller. This person enters your home early in the morning and walks stealthily like a thief. If you wake up, he pretends having entered the wrong apartment, looking for a Mr. Pierre or a Mr. Paul; he is abashed with apologies and retreats after carrying off what has fallen into his hands. -The early morning caller works around all the hotels, knowing that the travellers have the habit of leaving their key in the door.
