Jewish Community of Venice Receipt Book

Early modern Venice boasted a thriving Jewish community. This communal accounts book reveals an accounting of the disbursements made by the Italian Jewish community of Venice in the eighteenth century. These distributions were given to a wide range of individuals for various purposes, including the salary of communal officials, emissaries seeking alms from the Holy Land, and non-Jewish artisans who had provided various services to the Italian Jewish community. The digitization of this work was funded by a grant from the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation.
