dc.description The gray clay handleless aryballos has a narrow opening, flared lip and a narrow neck that curves into the body. The body widens to a center bulge, then narrows to a pointed bottom. A spiral pattern of black glaze remains, running from the base of the neck to the bottom of the piece. The piece is encrusted with dirt, cracked and chipped. It is uncommon for aryballoi to lack a handle, or to possess this shape, nevertheless, without further information, this may be a regional variation. en_US
