dc.description.abstract This print shows Marie Joseph Louis Adolphe Thiers (1797-1877) as a little Devil trying to seduce the Prince de Joinville, the son of the abdicated Citizen King. This is a rather liberal interpretation of Luke 4:7, "If Thou will worship me, all this shall be Yours!" Daumier is referring to Thiers' endeavors to use Joinville against the rising star of Louis Napoléon. en_US
