Title NJPS 2000: Learning from Controversy
Author: Saxe, Leonard; Kadushin, Charles
Description: Published in the Jewish Week in September 2003, this Op-Ed calls into question the findings of the 2000 National Jewish Population Survey. Due to problems with the response rate, the study likely underestimated the number of American Jews, overestimated their engagement and failed to adequately capture other population demographics. Despite these problems, the authors maintain that the study could provide a valuable resource and recommend reanalyzing the data to correct for the distorted findings.
