dc.description.abstract Baron Jacques-Antoine-Adrien Delort(1773-1846) actively participated in the Revolution and served under Napoléon I until 1814 as General in Spain. He was peered and nominated Knight of the Legion of Honoré. Delort was eventually appointed Director of the Military School at Saint-Cyr. His name can still be found today on the memorial plates of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. He was reinstated in this position and supported Louis-Philippe from 1830 on. He commanded the 7th Division at Grenoble during the uprisings in 1832. Daumier shows Delort with a coat of arms consisting of a pot, a horn and a cow bell, a hint that not all is gold which shines. en_US
