dc.description.abstract Jean Auguste Chevandier de Valdrome(1781-1865) was a glass producer and owner of the Cirey glass manufacturer. Daumier portrays Chevandier with his collar up to his nose, inhibiting his ability to speak because he was known for his silence when important votes had to be cast in Chamber sessions. en_US
