Abstract:
Marthe Camille Bachasson, Conte de Montalivet (1801-1880) was a road builder and bridge engineer. As a politician he supported Louis-Philippe, who appointed him Minister of the Interior from 1830-1832 and Minister of Culture in 1831. He participated in the establishment of the Versailles Museum. From 1837 to 1839, he was appointed Minister of the Interior and served as one of the judges of the notorious April trials. In 1879, he was nominated Senator. Furthermore he was responsible for the administration of all the kitchens in the castles.
In order to avoid censorship, the "pear" is being used as a symbol for King Louis-Philippe.
